The term ass, burro or donkey are all proper. A male is known as a jack hence the term "jackass" and the females are known as jennies.
Our three burro's are all adopted from the Wild Horse and Burro program run by Bureau of Land Management (BLM) who is responsible for managing the nation's public lands. The wild horses and burros are captured and moved East to adoption sites. This is how the federal government manages public rangelands.
Some people mistakenly call our burro's mules. This is wrong as a mule is a cross between a horse and a donkey. A mule is sterile and basically looks like a horse with long ears.
Listen to what a burro sounds like (brey)
Honeybun who is pictured below is one of two donkey's certified by the Delta Society for animal assisted therapy.
